Terms and conditions

These terms and conditions govern the relationship between the provider of genealogical services and their clients.

Introduction
The provider is Kateřina Schneiderová, based at Strahovská 261, 373 24 Římov, Company ID (IČO) 24020346 (hereinafter “provider”).

The client is a natural or legal person who orders genealogical services from the provider (hereinafter “client”).

The service includes archival research, creating a family tree, document digitization, and related activities (hereinafter “service”).

Contract
The genealogical service is concluded as a contract for work (according to § 2586 of the Civil Code – Act No. 89/2012 Coll.).

The contract is established at the moment the order is confirmed in writing by both parties and the preliminary scope of work is agreed upon. The subject of the work is defined as precisely as possible. The client must provide the provider with all available information (input data) necessary to start the research, including details of individuals listed in living registers that are not publicly accessible.

Price and payment terms
The price of the service is determined individually based on the complexity and scope of the research and is governed by the valid price list published on the website www.rodokmeny-schneider.cz.

The provider is entitled to request a deposit of 30–50% of the estimated price, payable before starting work.

The remaining balance is due upon completion of the work and before delivery to the client. If archival research does not produce results due to missing records or other objective reasons, the provider is entitled to reimbursement of verifiable costs.

Rights and obligations of the parties
The provider undertakes to perform the research with professional care and to use all relevant available sources. The provider is obliged to inform the client about the progress of the work, especially if unexpected costs arise.

The client acknowledges that the success of the research depends on the readability, availability, and preservation of archival sources, which the provider cannot influence.

Completion date
The completion date depends on the scope of the order and the workload of the archives. An estimated date is set when the order is confirmed. The provider is not responsible for delays caused by third parties.

Copyright and data protection (GDPR)
The output, whether graphic or text, is the intellectual property of the provider. The client obtains the right to use it for personal purposes. Commercial use is allowed only with the provider’s consent.

GDPR: The provider processes personal data of the client and their ancestors solely for the purpose of fulfilling the contract. The client confirms they are authorized to provide data on living persons if necessary for the research. The provider requires explicit and voluntary consent to process data on living relatives; without it, such data will not be included in the output. GDPR does not apply to deceased individuals, but the provider respects personal rights.

Withdrawal and complaints
The client has the right to withdraw from the contract before work begins. After research has started, the client is obliged to pay the provider for work already performed. Due to the nature of the service (custom digital or physical output), the contract cannot be withdrawn without reason after completion of the work.

Complaints: Any factual errors in the data will be corrected by the provider free of charge. The final work cannot be claimed for other reasons.

Final provisions
These terms and conditions are valid from 1 January 2026. All disputes will be resolved in accordance with the legal system of the Czech Republic.
